Christmas 2008

My mom and I went shopping together and I bought presents for Dad, Flea, and Shane. I crocheted my mom a home-made wash cloth. I wrapped the presents and gave them to them.

On Christmas Eve morning, I got up early.
Later, I helped my mom make pigs in a blanket.
That was really fun.
Then, me and my family went to Aunt Sherry's house. Brother James, Sister Joy and Matt came too. Then we ate dinner and then played the white elephant game.
After that we all went and caroled at Brother Jason and Sister Amy's house. "We sang, We Wish You a Merry Christmas." We went in and visited for a minute then we left back to Aunt Sherry's house.
While we were waiting for Aunt Sherry, Brother James and Sister Joy, we played a trick on them when we got back. Anthony hid in the closet. Then, when they got there, we asked them if they've seen him. They said no. Then, Anthony opened the closet and yelled, RAW! Really loud. So loud that not only it scared them, it scared me to death, I scrame really loud. Sister Joy said she knew that we were playing a trick on them. Then we did devotions. Everyone (except me, Felecia) said something that we needed God to help us with. I didn't say anything because I couldn't think of anything. Then we left and went home.

Going Caroling

Yesterday, we got up early. We went to two rest homes with the Gallagher's, Aunt Sherry, Amber, and Anthony. We sang Christmas carols to the elderly people. Sister Glenda brought her harp and she played while we sang. Connor and Grace both played a song on the piano. I told Eva she should play God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen on the piano, but she said she forgot it. I would have practiced a song on the piano but I didn't know we were going to go to rest home.
Chelsea, Felecia, Eva and I went and said hi too sister B. Then our whole group went and sang to her.
Later, we went to visit Zoya. She showed us pictures of there vacation.
I played Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star on the violin while we were there.
Zoya played the guitar for us.
After that, we went and caroled at Aunt Sherry's work.
Then we had a meal and a dessert afterwards.

The Christmas Play at Church

Yesterday, we had a Christmas program at church. We did Christmas Comes to Ernie.
We had a lot of visitors.
At the end of the play, the men's chorus sang, Jesus Paid it All. They have sang it before.
Some of the saints did Christmas Comes to Ernie.
The young people sang also, they sang ''Thank God I am Free''.
Brother Jason was the pastor, Sister Ami was his wife, Michael and Micah were there children.
They came in the car singing I am a Christian. It was funny.
Brother Luis was the narrator.
Everyone did a good job.

Fanny Crosby

Fanny Crosby was a blind person. She was only six weeks old when she became blind.
She wrote the following poem when she was eight years old:

Blind but Happy

O what a happy soul am I!
Although I cannot see,
I am resolved that in this world
Contented I will be;
How many blessings I enjoy
That other people don't!
To weep and sigh because I'm blind
I cannot, and I won't.

She also wrote thousands of hymns. My mom found about ten of her songs in the Hymnal of the Church of God. Some of my favorites are Tell me the Story of Jesus, Praise Him, Praise Him, Blessed Assurance, and All the way my Savior Leads Me.
She got married and had one child a little girl that died when she was a baby. One day a man felt sorry for her that she was blind, but she said she was glad because when she gets to heaven Jesus would be the first face she ever saw. She lived till she was 95 years old.

This is our winter garden.
Yesterday me and mom put leaves on the garden.
We cover the garden with leaves so weeds won't grow in our garden, also to prevent soil erosion. That is when the soil on top washes away when it rains.
Also, the leaves feed the worms. They eat the leaves and turn it into more dirt.

The Harvest Festival

The birthday party was postponed but we still had the Harvest Festival which is really fun.
It rained the day of the Harvest Festival which made it event more fun.

Me, Felecia, and Amber, helped my mom sing songs with the kids. We sang John Browns Baby, Down By The Bay, and My Aunt Came Back.
They also had a pie eating contest, and bobbing for apples.
We ate a picnic there, we had Fried Chicken and Potato Salad.
Felecia carved a pumpkin that day but we didn't bring it.
Me and my mom are going to make Christmas presents this year so today we will make a list of things to make.

Going to Apple Hill

The day before yesterday, me and my family went to Apple Hill with the Gallagher's, the Disbrow's and Aunt Sherry, Amber, and Anthony, Evan, and his parents. We were at Larsen's Park.
We had a picnic while we were there. We had sandwiches and chips and carrots. It was a good lunch.
Brother Mike taught us how to play foot ball. I was on a team with Felecia, Chelsea, and Aunt Sherry against Mom, Alexis, Amber, and Eva.

Back from L to R: Mom, Amber, Me, Aunt Sherry, Felecia
Front from L to R: Eva, Alexis, Bro. Mike, Chelsea

We also picked blackberries. I only picked some for a few minutes, because I wanted to go play.
Me, Shane, Alexis, Anthony, Evan, Eva, Connor, and Austen all went to the pond. I got to do rock climbing. I did it all by myself, but I had to help Alexis, Eva, and Grace up. When I got to the creek, it was so fun. Anthony told me to be quiet because he said that I was going to scare the frogs away, but we still had fun. I love to explore and learn new things about the wild.

Learning about History and Your Body

Yesterday, I worked with Stephanie. We did History and I got to dig through soil like an Archaeologist and I found some stuff that we pretended was from a long time ago. I found a big bowl and a very mini bowl that was probably for a baby.

We are also studying on the human body. We are studying on what your body needs. We are studying on healthy foods. We have been studying about our intestines too. Did you know we have a large intestine and a small intestine and that our small intestine is about 20 feet long?
We did an experiment on our taste buds. We used Q-tips, sugar, lemon juice, salt. I dipped the Q-tip in sugar and then rubbed it on different parts of Stephanies tongue to see what part of the tongue she tasted it the strongest. We did the same with the lemon juice and the salt. Then she did it on my tongue. It was kind of funny.

After that my family and the Gallagher's went to the Barsekov's and we had a Russian dinner. It was really good.

Summer Fun

HI I'm BACK!
Me and my family took a trip to Montana. On the way up we saw many beautiful things. We drove through California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho on the way up. Some things I didn't see because I was sleeping half the time. But, I got to see cows, and wind mills. I got to see see lakes and rivers, but I don't remember them very much. I was sleeping half the time because I kept getting car sick.
We all stayed in a hotel in Washington that night. Then, back in the car we go. Then, we arrived in Montana. We stayed with the McColumns. While we were in Montana, I got two new friends. A girl named Miyah, who is about 8, and another girl named Traye, who is about 16.
Me, Felecia, Traye, Shane, and his friend Jim, all went to a playground. It was really fun. We got to play on the see-saw. We all took turns. We also went to Glacier National Park, that was really fun.
We also got to go on a hay ride. It was fun but really hot. The sun glowed on me like the whole time.
On the 4th of July, we got to go to Amanda's. It was really fun. We also went to church and watched fire works.
The other day, I got a shirt from the store and painted it. It came out really cute.

Awhile ago we went to Marine World/Six Flags. Me and my family, (except my dad) Joyce and her family, Kim and Alicia, the Mores, Aunt Sherry, Amber, and Anthony. I had the most fun. I really wish my dad would have seen it. It was really fun.

Quite awhile ago, we had Brother Bob, Brother Charles, and Brother Wilber over. Brother Wilbur is soooo cute. We had good fellowship.

Not to long ago, Brother Rick and Sister Anette came down for a visit and stayed with us. They are from Montana. The last day they were here, we went to the Gallagher's house. Brother Rick played his guitar and sang a really funny song. Me, Eva, and Grace were cracking up.

The next day we had the Barsekov's over. I had so much fun with Alena.

Also, Felecia just had a birthday, so we had our Grandparents from Hawaii over.

Raising Butterflies, Part 1

Today I received the butterfly larvae. I got it in the mail. Right now I am watching the caterpillars. There is one at the bottom and the rest are at the top of the cup that they came in. They are tiny and black, and they have little pokes on them. They are very busy moving around. They will eat all the food at the bottom of the cup for the next seven to ten days. They are spinning silk webs. It's supposed to help them move a lot easier but I'm not sure why. One day they are going to be Painted Lady Butterflies.

Catching Up!

Friday we went to Sister Shirley's house. We got to her house and Alexis greeted me. We were trying to get Katy's attention. I don't know if I can remember right in order what we did, but at their house, we went outside and put our feet in their pool. They have a built in pool. We all had a tuna sandwich for lunch. They were yummy. A little later, we went to Apple Hill. At Apple Hill me, Katy, Alexis, Felecia, and Kerri all got doughnuts. They were really good. Yesterday, Sierra came over. First, she swung on the swings for a few minutes. Then I don't know why, but we chased the boys around outside for awhile. I really don't know why. Sierra said that it's because we should. I think I know why she liked it so much, but I won't say. Then, Sierra was bored of it and I needed a break. So we both quit. Anthony wanted to keep playing but I wanted to quit. We had fun.

My First Time at Taco Tree

Today, I went to life skills class. Me and my class went to Taco Tree. It was the first time I've ever been there. It is so much like Taco Bell. At Taco Tree I had a Taco and a bean burrito. It was really good. I ordered my own meal. This time since Taco Tree's not very far from our class, we all walked.
A couple weeks ago, we got a new boy in our class. I think he's Mexican. I'll have to ask him on Monday, his eye's look it, and his name is Briano. He is 16.
When I got home, I swung on the swing thinking about my friends in class, all of a sudden the chain broke, and it cut my hand and I flew through the air and landed on my head.

Exploring Outside Work

Yesterday was a very entertaining day.
In the morning, my dad taught me how to run the weed-eater. It was very heavy but really fun. I told my dad that now if I want to mow the lawn for him as a surprise and I can’t because I can’t get the lawnmower started, I will just use the weed-eater.

Then my dad showed me how to do knife throwing. I threw the knife and it hit the ground quite a few times but finally I got it right in the target. Now I can throw knives, I can shoot the bow and arrow and the BB gun, I can ride the mower and run the weed-eater. It’s a lot of fun when my dad takes me outside to learn new things.

Later that afternoon, Dad, Shane, and I started a brush fire in the back pasture. We burned a whole bunch of sticks. The fire was burning hot. It was too much on my face.
I really enjoy going out and exploring all the outside work.

Things I Did Today

Today I worked in the garden. I helped my mom pull weeds. Earlier I planted some strawberry seeds in a pot. I mixed up soil and water in a bowl then put it in a planting pot. Then I put in the seeds and covered them with more soil. I put the pot on the table in front of the window so it can get sun. Tonight we are having Pizza for dinner. My sister is spending the night at a friends house so my mom is going to sleep with me tonight.

Making Pepper Poppers

Today I helped Mom make Pepper Poppers. First I weighed the cheese. Then I shredded it. I put the shredded cheese in a large bowl with cream cheese, garlic, chilli powder, and bacon bits. Next I mixed it all together with the beaters. My mom washed and cut the jalepeno's in half. Then I stuffed the peppers with the cheese mixture and rolled them in bread crumbs. We baked them and then ate them. They were realy good but they burned my mouth so we drank a nice cool glass of orange juice.

Amazing Priscilla Crotchete's Scarf

I am so excited!!! Priscilla has crotcheted her first scarf all by herself from beginning to end. The only thing I helped her with is to add a new skien of yarn when the first one ran out. This is a real HUGE accomplishment for her. We have been working on crotcheting for almost two years. It was a real challenge to both her visual and fine motor skills. I am really proud of her!

A few days ago I decided too make a scarf. I took a whole roll of string and started to crochet a row. When I decided how long I wanted it, I went back and started to go in twice. It took me three days too make it. Now I have a beautiful scarf. My Mom couldn't believe it.
